Re: The First Marina in Cambodia. Soon

I wonder if yachties started frequenting the waters if the targets could change?

Pirates of the Ca Mau cape - 61 local fishing boats have been held for ransom since 1998

Re: The First Marina in Cambodia. Soon

As the Russian poet Brodsky:
The sea is full of surprises.
* Some unpleasant.

Three years ago, in the Baltic Sea pirates hijacked cargo ship "Arctic Sea". In the eyes of the Swedish Coast-guard.
And almost a month for them was the pursuit fleets of Russia and NATO.

Re: The First Marina in Cambodia. Soon

Yesterday returned from the voyage: Sihanoukville - sea border of Vietnam (o.Fukuok).
2 days have passed more than 200 miles. On the way, visited the island and the coast. Approached the fishing boat, went to a small naval base.
We spent the night in the town of Kampot River.
Pirates have not seen

Re: The First Marina in Cambodia. Soon

Circumstances of the marina in Sihanoukville Conn.

:- We had planned to start accepting boat this winter, but there was a delay in the supply of equipment for marinas

- Now the term has moved this summer. I very much hope that we will have time to build berths and marina office with all the services this summer

- With long parking fee of about $ 2-2,5 per meter boat.
Personally for you to pay will be less - I promise you, as you pioneers.

- About a month I can give you a more detailed answer

Re: The First Marina in Cambodia. Soon

Hi

I talk about the current state of the marina.

There was a delay in delivery of equipment from Finland. Ocean transportation will begin at the end of March .. I think that only in June and July, we will be able to mount the piers and take a yacht.

Notify me of your plans to date.

Mantula, I am also interested in your marina. You say there is great sailing in the area. Please tell us about the Islands around you. The weather? The fishing!

PS don't let them empty their holding tanks into the marina, {PLEASE}!!!

Re: The First Marina in Cambodia. Soon

More than 50 islands in the coastal waters of Cambodia. Can be divided into 3 categories. near the island (1-5 miles), other 10-15 miles long and 25-50 miles. There are coral reefs, dive sites are very good, clear water 15-20 meters. Lots of fish. Big fish of 10 or more miles from shore. Sea fishing business that bad.
I know exactly what is good spearfishing.

Underwater fishing and distant expeditions on the Island is my friend Valera on his Japanese schooner. His schooner based 100 meters from our marina.

The state berths in Cambodia can be seen in this photo. It is also near our marina.
Mooring naval base. Prominent local yacht owner Aussie (?).
And my wife Olga and my car is also in the photo

Ask and answer what I know. However, I am only 8 months here.

I was there mid last year and heading back again in a month. The islands of Sihanoukville are small but very untouched by western hands. Aside from a few bungalows there are no hyatts or hiltons (yay). Tourism is dedicated mainly to Snooky (sihanoukville) itself with the tiniest private resorts on the nearby islands. Do a quick google maps for a quick list of them. Kaoh Rong is the largest and quite popular for a two-three day island stay.

There are marine parks in some areas and diving is said to be excellent. I had a pommy mate spend ten days volunteering with an eco charity and he loved the water quality and diving. (tho he is a pom of course)

The locals seem to catch fish. I tried- i failed. But i always fail at fishing lol.

The weather is typical South East Asian tropical weather, 28-32 degrees Celsius. With medium high humidity. (snooky is cooler than much of cambo due to the breezes coming up the gulf of thailand.

The town has heaps of cheap bars and cheap eats. $3 bbq meals on Ouchetel beach.
