Spencers Gulf SA to Sydney

Hello all,

Will soon be setting off to bring home to Sydney, my newly purchased Swanson 32 "Sweet Chariot" from Port Pirie SA.

Initially planning to round Kangaroo Island however others have suggested that we go through the Backstairs Passage to save a bit of time.

Anybody had any experiences (good or bad) in this area.

Any advice is greatly apppreciated.

Thanks

Shouldn't be too hard in a Swanson if they do it in kayaks
(but note the tidal info in one of the links below)

Thanks "At Sea".

Even in this article it is described as a dangerous waterway.

We will wait and see what the weather deals up for us.

That's right of course; wherever water squeezes up like that it can get rough. The links show though that, on the right day at the right time, it'll be a doddle. Maybe just stay on the hook in Kingscote or American River till it's okay to go? Allabest.
