San Francisco bay golden gate obstacles?

Not sure if this is the proper group, please let me know if there is a better fitting group

I found that there seems to be a big obstacle very close to surface, inside the golden gate bridge, about 200 meters right to the east of the north tower. The area around the bridge is about 300ft deep, but once I reach about 1/4 of the bridge opening from north tower, and fall off and return back into the bay, shortly after I sail back, the depth suddenly reduces to 50ft,....20ft 10ft. Then after 1 second it's back to 200ft again

I read that there are sunken ships there , is this what you found too?

That be where the Kraken lies. She must have been rising rapidly towards your boat and then quickly slipped back to the depths.

Yep, she mostly feeds along the slopes of Cavallo Spire, taking advantage of the rich food sources brought in by the upwelling and turbulence. It is rare event for her to come to the surface.

Or, it could be one of the things mentioned in this thread.

Lots of harbor porpoises feed in the upwelling along the gate. One could have been coming up toward you at just the right moment. Interesting trivia question - do you know what harbor porpoises are most (in)famously known for?
