Q for Those Down Under

Do people in Australia and New Zealand call the rest of the world "up over"?

We just pretend the rest of the world doesn't exist.
Tasmania is the small furry triangle beneath the soft underbelly of Australia.

Then why is it so cold "down there?"

GM, I think it may be time for you to take your medication....

That aside, based on my time here in NZ, most Kiwi's think the world should revolve around their views on most global matters, AND even some Kiwi who simply wins a "chocolate chip cookie contest" anywhere in the world, will likely make it onto the 6pm and 10:30pm nightly news!

NZ had that problem for the past 9 years ... then suddenly "woke up" to reality. Now 'Aunty Helen' is the UN's (and the rest of the world's) problem!

However, there are still many of her "partners in PC, liberal crime" around.

Speaking of crime, see today’s article in the NZ Herald, where Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias floats the prospect of prisoners being ordered free by the Government to help solve the problem of overcrowding in prisons.

Chief Justice suggests amnesty to clear jails - Politics - NZ Herald News

If NZ has such ridiculous ideas being “proposed” by its most senior of judicial officials, how can it ever hope to address the rampant high levels of crime in this country???

It usually ends badly...

Actually we don't really like the rest of the world that much. Every time we have something to do with them it usually ends badly. Think WWI, Great Depression, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Afghanistan and our most recent Great Financial Disaster.

Being Downunder is something most of us are very proud of.

There is even one of our unofficial National Anthems devoted to it.
