Panama Across the Pacific

Hey everybody,

just joined Cruisersforum, i am a 33 year young diving instructor from Belgium who lives in Curacao for the last 2 yrs. I am planning my dream in 2012 to sail from Panama to Galapogos, Marquese islands to French Polynesia, the end goal is australia or new zealand.

The question is: to get a position as a crew member on a sailing boat, would it be better to fly to Panama and look for a captain there, or arrange everything before using websites looking for crews, and what would be the best place in Panama to find a captain?
