North or South of Eden Island Moreton Bay

Leaving Russell Island today and I’m wondering if anyone knows which route maintains deeper water when going south and east toward Gold Coast.

The southern route between Eden and Kangaroo Island seems to be the biggest and deepest, but one part concerns me. Funny thing it looks as though they updated the recommended route but not the charts depths. So the route goes though what appears to be a shallower section. This is on my charts and BtoB.

Red or blue? Area in green is the concern.

Here is the area detail, see how the suggested path goes over more shallow water. But if you look at the satellite image, you can see why... there’s a bar hanging out (yellow arrow)

the deepest channel is the Main Channel, going past Jacob's Wells. A coupleof months ago we came through with a 1.8 m tide at the Brisbane bar and found > 8.7 feet at the shallowest point.

With a 2m draft we had to anchor for the night at Jacob Wells and wait for a mid tide. This was a couple of weeks ago.

North or South of Eden Island Moreton Bay

Thanks all.

I took the north one between Taby Taby and Eden Island. High tide was 4.9ft and the lowest depth I saw was 7.9ft between the islands and then I saw 6.9ft in Mckenzies Channel.

I don’t think my depth sounder is calibrated for its distance underwater, so those depths are probably about 2ft deeper.

Currently anchored between Green bank and Gold bank with all the power boats. Pretty nice spot, but also pretty busy! Coming here is why I didn’t take the Jacobs well route.

Hi
I have 2m draft. I find leaving Brisbane River at high tide will get you straight through as long as you go via Jacobs Well. Also if you have a big mast check notices to mariners about power line as they were re-measured (down) I think it was 19m.
Always a good voyage as long as you don't run aground at Jacobs Well.

😃
