Fingers crossed for them..
If its a fatigue crack they are not out of the woods yet.

At least they've got power for the pumps.

Here's hoping

Re: MAYDAY...

It has been a long time since we were in the Marquesas. I do not remember any slipping facilities there, and not many protected anchorages where underwater work would be easy. So, does anyone know if there are now better facilities there?

Re: MAYDAY...

There never used to be any haulouts in the Marquesas, not even in Taiohae, but it might have changed. It's possible a big truck with a crane could haul them. It's another 10 degrees further west to Tahiti, and, also, there would be the Tuamotus to cut through, with their swirly currents, and toothy reefs reaching out. Aiming at the Marquesas keeps the winds well astern.

Good luck, guys.

Ann

Re: MAYDAY...

Closest real haul out is probably Apataki in the Tuamotus.

Re: MAYDAY...

If we knew their SSB call sign (if they have one), we could have a sched with them, propagation permitting.

Jim there is a haulout facility now in Hiva Oa. Been in operation for a couple of years. Apataki in the Tuamotus is the next haulout available heading west.

Cheers
