French Polynesia & GE Charts

If you are currently in French Polynesia or headed that way we have recently made available over 1400 Google Earth Images (.kap files) that cover most of FP. Used in conjunction with OpenCPN navigation program.

Because internet is so slow in places we made the downloads available by island group / island.

If you are in a location with good internet you may want to download them all.

Containing 1,450+ images of French Polynesia.

Marquesas, Tuamotus, Gambiers, Australs

Requires decent internet to download but can be downloaded by specific location.

Wow Chuck, would we have liked to have those whilst navigating through the Tuamotus using celestial and xeroxed paper charts!

It almost sounds churlish to complain, but the Australs package only includes Raivavae, nothing else... Perhaps a mistake?

That's all you get for free

You might have to make a few charts if you want other islands in the Australs

Or use Ovitalmap to store the satellite images. Sure, not overlaid on a chart, but when held side by side with a chart plotter it’s accurate enough.

We have spent considerable time to load charts up using Ovital maps on our ipad only to return to them a few weeks later while away from internet and found many of them missing. Others have reported similar experience. Have submitted numerous problems reports but never got an answer. Assume there is a max amount of data cache and as it fills up charts made earlier roll off.

Anyone else have that experience?
