Farr X2 Keel Loss

On 4 July two sailors were rescued in Australia after the keel of their new Farr X2 racing yacht detached. The vessel then capsized. The two sailors were rescued 15 hours later, clinging to the hull of the upturned yacht. They had been completing an overnight offshore qualifier

The stricken vessel was approximately 15 miles east of Wollongong, about 100 km south of Sydney. Rescue was carried out by the Australian Navy in 30 knot winds and both crew are in good health and spirits.

Re: Farr X2 Keel Loss

Third thread on the same topic!
Let's keep it in the other two:

Mainly about the incident and recue:
https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3648039

Mainly about the boat design and keel:
https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...hlight=farr+x2

And it's not really appropriate for the "Destinations -> Pacific & South China Sea" sub-forum since it happened in the Tasman Sea, just of the NSW coast )
