EU vs. US Registration for Pacific Crossing

Hello,

Looking to purchase a USCG catamaran. I am US citizen, my partner is French citizen with US green card. We are exploring best options to register the boat that will start in Mexico and sail to Australia / New Zealand / Singapore by way of Central America, Galapagos and South Pacific (i.e. Marquesas, French Polynesia, Fiji, etc)

Currently evaluating:
  • USCG - under my name or LLC
  • Poland

Open to advice from experienced sailers who have crossed the pacific

French is good, lotsa French territory in the Pacific which an EU reg would make for an easier life..

Check your options to get insurance for your boat. It might be easier with an EU registration by an EU citizen.
