thank you, it is a little bit out of our way. The photo's on Google earth were great.
How come you ended up there?
I am a little concerned about the security in Irian Jaya being a bit like Papua New Guinea which is a complete mess.
However as i see it, the islands are much differernt from the mainland.?
I don't wont to visit tourist places but to try and live and understand different cultures.
The furtherest east we will get to is probably Wayag lagoon on palau wayag
Regards,
Beau and Christine

iv been studying avians and varanids of png more then 25 years now, have been in these jungles several times even in forbiten papuasie (bewani mtn) never felt in any danger whatsoever...however my last trip was in 96 and from what I am thold things have changed...my frind living in irian jaya says that white man cauld be targeted sins war on talibans...the jungle has became residence to many musulem all over indonesia...I dont know if this is 100% true and I dont usualy listen to this political nonsens...in fact iv been in comenrouge (laos) territory back when it was a hot zone and never got any problems...but this time I am cautious..getting old I guess?
one thing about sailboats that make me uncomfortable...they dont hide easy...when traveling bare foot you can hide when danger leurks.

in anycase best luck and enjoy

Thank you for that.
I will contact Dany.
Going to Meurake from the Torres Strait is an easy one or two day sail.
Papua New Guinea is very violent these days i would like to think the Indonesia's have better control over the locals?

Beau and Christine
