Destination Vietnam

Does anyone have experience 1. Sailing to Vietnam, 2. Arriving in Vietnam with the intention of 3. Staying there for a while? From what I have found online so far it is not really a 'go to' place for cruisers mainly due to lack of facilities and bureaucracy. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

It is a shame Vietnam is reluctant to embrace cruisers. I have a friend who has been living there for nearly a year and is very there. Noonsite imho the first place to research potential cruising grounds.
