Better to Sell Sailboat in HI or CA ?

Hey guys - I have a 43 foot wooden sloop (Kettenburg), that I am ready to part with. I was debating whether I should sell her here in San Diego, or sail to Maui....and sell her somewhere in HI.

Is the market for a wooden sailboat any better or worse in CA vs HI?

On a seperate note.....if I do decide to sail to HI I would leave in about two weeks. What are your thoughts on departing from San Diego vs San Francisco in August?

You'll find the boat market in Hawaii very depressed. Lots of reasons but mostly because there has been a large increase in state mooring fees and there aren't many private marinas. A wood boat here does not sell well. Most folks know about the tropics and the havoc caused by warm weather with lots of rain showers to wood boats.
You would find a very much better market in the Northwest.
Sailing to Hawaii in August is ok. Just watch your weather patterns.
