When sailing from Marina Del Ray on a Trans-Pacific voyage to Japan, which is the BEST route to take in terms of currents, winds, and sailing conditions? And when is the BEST time to sail on such a passage? The voyage would be east to west.

I myself would go via Mexico & south Pacific.....met a Japanese yacht in Bora Bora about to depart for Japan.
Don't disregard tsunami debis still floating around north Pacific. Also Japan is very expensive by all accounts.
