Bareboat rentals in Hawaii

Hi. First post and very new to this forum.

My fiancee and I "won" a 7 day condo stay in Maui starting Jan 7, 2007, so we booked a flight that gets into Honolulu New Year's Eve, figuring we'll find someplace to go for the extra week. I've skippered in BVI several times (50 ft monohull), and it occurred to me that if the same opportunity were available in Hawaii we might be better to do that than to try to find a fixed location on land somewhere.

Does anyone know if there are even bareboat options available, preferably on Oahu? We don't need a large boat, since it's just the 2 of us, but searching the internet I couldn't readily come up with much in the way of options.

Any suggestions???????

Aloha Dave,
Welcome aboard! Hope you find this forum helpful as I have.
I am not experienced with any bareboat outfits on Oahu but here are a couple that might be able to help with your question.
www.HawaiiYachts.com, www.honsail.com. I just looked them up in the yellow pages and they advertised bareboat charters.
A fellow on s/v Aphrodite just pulled into Honolulu not long ago and was looking for crew. You might want to post him a personnel message to see what his plans are for that period of time.
Kind Regards, --JohnL--

Sorry for the spelling error. I meant "personal" vs "personnel."

Hope your stay in the islands is pleasant.

I have spent a good bit of time there, so if you want any suggestions of places to visit, or eat drop me a b-mail.

Thanks. I've checked out those links and so far it doesn't look like there's much bareboat charter activity in the area, certainly nothing like BVI.
The only monohulls I could find were 3 cabin boats with 3 cabin prices, so it may turn out to be impractical.

Hawaii Bareboat Yacht Charters

Bareboat yacht charters are hard to find in Hawaii.

I think the conditions are just too variable to safely allow for it.

You might also try Yacht Charters Hawaii to see if they have anything.

There's a rental in Ko Olina Marina...I forget the name but you could call the harbor master and ask. They rent out Benneteau's. Some kind of "Sailing Club"

I don't recommend a bareboat rental in Hawai'i unless you only intend day sailing. Trying to go between the Islands is terrible and not for the uninitiated. It would be a terrible trip for you and your fiancee. Renting a boat will be expensive in Hawai'i.
