Australia to New Caledonia in 2013

Hasn't the weather on the east coast of Australia been unseasonal. Our original intention was to sail to NZ in May and then onto Tonga but weather was against us. Starting in Darwin with the purchase of Barnabas in September 2012 there has been one drama after another. We were fortunate to have sailed south from Bundaberg 10 days before the devastating flood that not only damage many homes but also destroyed boats and the dreams of a number of fellow yachties.

After heading to Sydney and missing favourable weather to cross the Tasman we are now heading north to Coffs Harbour, intending to sail to New Caledonia in the next few weeks, God-willing.

We are open to the experiences and lessons learnt by others that have done the same trip as this is our first ocean crossing. So please share your comments.

I am also interested to know if there are other yachts planning the same voyage at this time.
