Zygote Sailor: RSVP

I have been a "passenger" sailor in the past and quasi crew member on a small racing boat (racing for fun). If I recall it was called "Snipe" Fun and great little boat.

Years later arriving to 50 now...I am wanting to "learn". I am a woman who is alone...and newly relocated so have not made any friends just yet. So, I thought of maybe getting a Sunfish. Then I read that a newbie should really look into a keel boat. This makes sense to me.

Here's my question: What boat would that be? I'm not looking for something "new" at this time but something suitable for learning (not sinking). What do I look for and keeping in mind...I am not interested in hoisting a mast as you had to do with the Snipe....forget it. I'm 5'2" and no HERcules....

P.S. Sorry if I have ill placed this post. I was looking for a "Beginner" Forum

Thanks,
Beverley
