Won Lottery now what

Won the lottery a couple months ago, my lawyer says now it's okay for me to do whatever I want. Not sure exactly what that is.

Probably going to buy a private island in the bahamas and build a zero carbon footprint house on it.

Also thinking I might lease a mega yacht with a bunch of jet skis until I can get my dream boat built which sounds like it will take a couple years to complete.

Thought a bit about giving some money to some kind of youth sailing charity or group. Sailing Optimist Prams when I was a little kid was how I got my start. Seems only right.

In the meantime I have my old cruising boat to get rid of. It's a mid-eighties forty foot production boat that I put a new engine in and has mostly new everything.

Really it only needs new standing rigging and maybe some new sails but is otherwise good to go. I love that little boat.

We've been living aboard and cruising her for the past five years or so. I've put so much of myself into her thinking it was the last boat I would ever own. Now I am not sure what to do with her.

Would probably just give her to someone needy but don't really know anyone.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Ok, I'll bite. Congrats on your new windfall! My wife and are founding a non-profit called Sailing to See. We are working to set up a logistics network of cruising sailors around the world to be able to deliver items to local people and villages in remote locations who are in need of medical devices, specialized equipment, books, teaching materials etc.

We are in the market for a new boat. Please let me know if you are serious about donating it to someone in need, I'd love to talk to you more.

You can donate it to me. I will sell it and buy more lottery tickets. Then spend the winnings on hookers and cocaine...
Just kidding...

Why Delancy, I do believe that today is the first of April. Could that have anything to do with your generosity?

Yep.

It depends on how much you won. I think a small amount - keep it. A big amount - spend it.

I would be a perfect lottery winner as I always seem to spend no matter how much I have.

Spending is good for you, good for economy. Being a tight ass is bad. (aka frugal).

Have fun spending!

Cheers,
b.

The other side! Flew to OZ once. It was rather disturbing. I arrived before I left! Take that Dr. Who!

A windfall would be nice. As would be a landfall after a long passage.
