Re: Why are lurkers not joining..

I was a lurker for many years before I joined. Check in most days to see what the regulars are up to. Can't seem to get my post count up though as I like to listen rather than talk and I guess it's the same here. Hoping to live long enough to make the 500 mark one day. Keep it up kids, it feels very much like being part of a family for me. John

Okay already. I've been "lurking" for a few years now, and now I've joined, not that I have a whole lot to contribute. Still learning! But I do want to thank everybody for their input and commitment. Contributors are making a lot of valuable knowledge available to people like me.

Re: Why are lurkers not joining..

Hey everyone! I lurked for a long time before joining and much longer before attempting to be a part of a conversation. I love thus forum! I learn new things all the time AND enjoy the humor (sometimes the lack of)!
I am very slow to comment frequently allowing others with more extensive experiences to offer their input. I’ll only jump in when my contribution hasn’t been offered by someone.
As a new sailor with a different rig (cat ketch 33) I have lots to learn, and I love every moment! New life in retirement!

Why are lurkers not joining..

Okay I’ll stop lurking on this thread. I’ve been a member since 2014 and a reader for several years before that. Sailed for 50 years so far on both USA coasts and Midwest lakes and rivers and lived aboard for a 4 year stint. And I’ve posted a bit over 2000 times. Occasionally I have something productive to add to a thread, sometimes just a wisecrack remark. I have learned a great deal from the truly knowledgeable and experienced members for which I am grateful. There are also some that are random noises to be ignored but life is like that. My thanks to everyone who participates and particularly to the moderators who keep this forum alive and mostly civil.

Re: Why are lurkers not joining..

yes that is all the word means, reading without posting

should not have any negative implication at all

same with not bothering to login until you've got a question or something to post you think will be helpful

Re: Why are lurkers not joining..

I have only been reading and posting on CF for a couple or three years, and the main thing that I am totally amazed about is...

The pheenominal knowledge put forth on how to fix most any bloody problem be a mechanical, electrical, carpentry, sails, plumbing, rigging, pumps, etc, etc, etc.

Lots of respect from this end. Lots of knowledge and experience from your end.

Outstanding.

As to the looking down on anyone due to the size of their boats, have not read those posts. We all can enjoy the many different aspects of having a great time on the water and splicing the main brace, sail or power, mono or kat .

Also sharing humor, sometimes we are just not sqawking the same code when funning with folks who speak a different language. As the saying goes, there is a loss in the translation.

Keep on keeping on, you all are great, and enjoying CF. As well as being helpful to those who are asking for help or ideas.

I agree completely, thanks for posting that.

I've had 28 boats from 27ft up to 96ft over the years, mono, power, multi. Like to experience them all..... like women too but faithful to the one I'm with at the time. Now have a 32ft mono and my last wife..... we promised each other 20 years, that was 5 years ago so I'll be dead by then or even crazier. I'm 74 and she's 61.
