Re: where to launch a trailerable sailboat in Sea of Cortez

Alan,
I recommend heading East on I-8 to El Centro, then south through Mexicali and onward to San Felipe/Puertecitos/Gonzaga bay on the 5. MUCH faster than the 1 out of Tijuana to Bahia de Los Angeles, your closest option via highway 1. Not only closer/quicker, but the highway is often 4 lanes(and 1/3 of trip, from San Diego at least, is driven in the US). The 2 lane highway between Puertecitos and G Bay is wide and straight, and very scenic. The only slow and narrow section is between San Felipe and Puertecitos, but all you need to do is go slow(45-50mph). Have fun, just be sure to have many different mapping sources as there are plenty of navigational hazards in the Sea of Cortez (islas Encantadas and midriffs especially).
