Where Do You Put It?

My wife and I are looking for our first boat. It will probably be in the 30 foot range, too large to trailer. My question is, where do you put it when you first get it? I assume that I can't get a slip without a boat, but without a slip I have nowhere to put the boat. I am sure there is a simple answer, just haven't found it. Also, if I end up buying a bit of a project, are there places where I can put the boat on land in order to work on it myself. All of this in southern California. Thanks.

hard to believe .. but find a place to keep your boat before you buy it.

The other thing you can do when you are looking at boats is try to assume the sellers moorage arangements. Where I live there is a supposed 7 year waiting list for annual moorage at the local civic marinia, BUT the berth is tied to the boat so if the boat sells the new owner gets to leave it where it is.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Ian.

Good luck in you boat search!

I’d recommend putting your name on several marina waiting lists, while you search.
