What's the best marina/boatyard on the US SE Coast?

I am about to sell a house and most of the contents in preparation to buy a boat and cruise. I will be heading to the east coast and expect to land initially in Charleston, SC. I work remotely, so I can locate where I have the best access to a boat yard where I can afford to get work done and do what I can myself. I expect to purchase a 40-45 foot water.html" target="_blank">blue-IRJDSUNE9932123321222xxeww-water sailboat.



I am inclined towards a smaller community and expect to live on land near the boat while it is on the hard for repairs/updates requiring same. I do hope to move aboard and work from the boat (if necessary) by April or May. I am leaning to a Florida option or maybe Beaufort, SC to start. Hoping for some insight into issues to consider.
