What would this part be called?

I've tried every combination of names I could think of and came up blank on searching google.

We wanted to use these in combination with elastic cord to make up a quick set of temporary curtains.

Thanks for any help or any other ideas for curtain hanging.

In the computer world we call those cable management posts. They come in a variety of sizes. That is a pretty small one but you can probably find them from a company that sells cable management supplies.

Hold backs or tie backs. You need to visit a fabric store or site.

Note: cup hooks will also work.

When you're in a marina and don't want people to see in, i have cut plain white printer paper to just exactly fit the port opening, a push in fit. It allows light in, but they can't see in.

They are a type of "shoulder screw"
(More commonly seen on bolts rather than screws)

Re: What would this part be called?

I've seen a lot of those in closets to hold the shelves in place, ie, the shelf gets screwed down on a support and cap is placed over it to pretty it up. The clear plastic needs to be on the screw prior to screwing it down.....then the cap is placed over it to hide the screw.
I've used them myself to install new closet shelves.
Not sure how'd they work as an elastic cord hold down...only one way to find out...

Or if you are talking about the plastic part, to be used with a normal screw, look for "shoulder washer".

Re: What would this part be called?

Believe it or not - it's a KNOB :-)!!

LeeValley might carry them. ' Lastic will pull 'em sideways and dislodge them if the tension is too great. Better solution is just a light line through the canal where the lastic would go and secured to the knobs with a clove hitch instead of the 'lastic. That way the line can be just snugged to keep the curtains tiddly, but there is no lateral pull on the knobs. And you just don't want lateral pull on yer knobs!

Re: What would this part be called?

5BTM got it IMO. That's the winning answer.
But if you go to your local hardware store and ask for "sleeves" or "spacers" they may have the same thing. The plastic screw head covers is another matter. A good hardware store might have them or go to Amazon and put in this, as an example:
"HILLMAN 59052 Black Hinged Screw Covers (1/4") - 10 Pieces"

Your boat, is that a wood Lapworth by chance?
