What would interest you enough every day?
This is a quick feedback request.
I made this small experiment where I stuck our own boat onto a map to show live data from it.
Link here:
https://storage.googleapis.com/naked...tal/index.html
I find myself opening this page a few times a day to basically just check that the boat is where it is supposed to be and what the current wind is.
MY QUICK QUESTION: Any spontaneous ideas what I could add to this small "app" to make it interesting to you (with your own boat in it)? What would make you open a page like this frequently, say at least once a day?
Any crazy suggestions are welcome
P.S. The map is a standard mapbox thingie so you can pan and zoom (and rotate by holding CTRL or something).

Ok, I zoomed in on the boat. It seems the water level is quite high at the moment

Re: What would interest you enough every day?
might be nice if you could activate an emergency bilge pump from your phone

Re: What would interest you enough every day?
wastes a lot of time. What it needs are notifications , not to have you to keep looking at it constantly.
You should be able to set acceptable parameters for all of these values. Then it sends a notification if the values are exceeded.
And maybe something else to tie to the local area. It would be great to watch your bilge fill up with water and the boat sink online, but unless you can contact someone to remedy the situation, it is more stressful than not knowing. LOL

Chotu, that’s my question! What could I add so that you’d want to waste a lot of time checking it? 😄

I know. You are trying to figure out how to make it profitable and to make money off of ads. I get it. But it’s not going to work.
The only thing that would make it work is to put the cruisers forum on there. It needs to be social. Just looking at your boat’s data is not going to happen enough to make any ad revenue. . Nobody wants to waste time doing that. I’m sorry, tough love, but that’s how I see this little business.

No ads. It's a hobby.
Anyway, thank you for your suggestion!

I think you're off to an interesting start, especially for a hobby app. What are you using to track the current location? The wind speed info in the upper left corner is good information but it's difficult to see... white text on a light background. Easy to miss.

Re: What would interest you enough every day?
Depends on climate.
Bilge alarm
Outside temp
Inside temp - freezing
Percent humidity inside - damp
Battery voltage
Ice box temp - s the beer cold, steaks frozen?
For folks that have boat watchers some way to make them push a button to show they have been there doing their job
But then there is the problem of sensors for all this stuff
A camera so the Wife can see what the husband is “working on”?

Cheers,
It's a Raspberry plugged into the N2K network (and running my own code and code from the canboat project).
N2K => Raspberry => Google cloud => web page.
And true, the text color is not very good.
The wind is gusting up to 25-30 knots here now. When I open then page and stare at it for a while, what I'd like to is hear audio from the boat.. hear what's going on

Audio/video would be cool. VHF radio traffic also, but it might be illegal to re-stream channel 16 on the internet?
