What is this?

This was on board my boat when I bought it. None of my very experienced sailing friends can identify it. Not even sure if it's boat related.

Re: What is this?

Looks to me like one half of an interlocking puzzle.

Previous owner: "I'm going to leave this here for the new owner as payback for the challenging negotiations."

You're funny, but that could be it. Unfortunately, he passed away so I can't ask him.

Re: What is this?

It’s used to attach a temporary dock line on a wooden dock that has gaps between the boards wide enough for it to fit through.

Re: What is this?

It’s a snowboard boot/ice skate lace tightening tool.
Very common with serious snowboarders.

Maybe that's it. Are you guessing or have you seen this before? Doesn't look quite right for attaching a dock line.

Re: What is this?

He's not guessing, I knew what it was 50 years ago but it only looked "familiar" today until Training Wheels identified it. Here's a similar one available today

Re: What is this?

Ding, ding, ding. I think we have a winner. The knowledge available on the site is amazing. Thanks

But we're not done...............I have another one for you. This was also on board. It has some type of flexible rod sewn in side

Re: What is this?

My sailmaker provides one with every sail. A piece of luff tape you can run up/down the furler. Halyard on one end, tag line on the other. Use it to check smooth running at the joints. If you leave your furler empty it can vibrate/oscillate a lot. Third string to the smaller grommet can be used to tie off to cleat/mast and reduce movement of the empty furler.

Re: What is this?

Do not know, could guess it to be anything from a tool to tension sail battens to a tack pennant for a headsail.

That is correct! I’ve got one as well though never use it.
