Re: What is the nicest, most elegant, most posh marina you've been to?
One of the nicest Yacht Clubs is the RYC in Toronto; the NYYC is nice also… On the West Coast the Royal Vann is nice as is the SDYC
I like clubs that have anchorages in front and permit you to anchor out or pick up a mooring and ride the club launch in <grin>

Re: What is the Nicest, Most Elegant, Most Posh Marina You've Been To?
I kept my 41' boat at Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale for a weekend in 1989 because my High School reunion was held there. The place was pretty nice, but my boat looked like a dinghy. I recieved an inquiry in the mail later that year stating that the smaller slips were selling at 250K with a additional maintenance and membership fee.
I'm not sure what nice, elegant & posh add up to, but it did seem to total to some conspicuous consumption!
I'm returning to another High School reunion this year at the Bahia Mar Marina Resort. We'll have the boat in the Chesapeake then, but it's a marina again,- I'm not sure why!

Sutton Harbour Marina in Plymouth, GB: Sutton Harbour Marina
The lock operates 24/7, whatever the tide is. No swell comes in the marina. The lock operator told us where to berth, we didn't even have to ask. A dock attendant was waiting for us. There was complimentary coffee and tea with biscuits at the check-in desk. The berth was close to the shore facilities. The en-suite toilets and showers are great. There is a free Internet cafe. The marina is close to the historic city centre but still very quiet, with 24h security access.
Of course, this isn't inexpensive.

River Dunes in North Carolina is a very nice marina with steam showers and a private chef that caters for luncha nd dinners on Friday and Saturday.

Nice and elegant are relative, but the place I would say I saw the most visible displays of wealth was in Vilamoura, Portugal. It's basically a vast square of slips with 1,000 boats surrounded on three sides by posh shops and condos.
Go up the hill to the dusty town of Quarteira and you see how the other 99% live.

The greatest travesty ever visited on a small fishing harbour , now the home of medallion man.

In order
Porto Montenegro (x2)
Cassis
Yacht Haven Grande, St. Thomas
ACI Dubrovnik
Porto Vathi / Meganisi
Port de Palma Majorca
By far Porto Montenegro has been the nicest marina we have been to. The staff was excellent and the facilities and shops around the marina were great.

No idea who that is, but the Chinese food was mediocre and overpriced! I expected better from a country that once had a colony at Macau.

There isn't good food anywhere to be found in Vilamoura, I was staying for a weeks R&R recently about 4 miles away , and when to visit it , the headaches all returned. Drove down to Tavaria instead to remind me of what the algarve really looks like. ( wife wanted towels from Vila San Real anyway )

Actually, the "nicest" and the most "elegant & posh" are widely separate qualifiers. The marinas that we find to be the nicest are never elegant & posh!
