There's usually little point to trying to help by reiterating when you know in advance your efforts to help will be rejected. However, in this thread we saw a situation arise wherein, for the benefit of helping others learn, people kept on, in spite of the suspected futility of repetition.

Personally, I feel disappointed by how this thread has gone, because of the descent into mudslinging, the denigration in it of people who made factual statements, as well as the misinformation offered.

Finally, I want to say thank you to all the people here who spoke Colregs sense: you know who you are.
