Thanks for all the suggestions! I downloaded an app that shows the knots in three d animation and shows the knots moving to tie it. Helps me out but looks like it lacks a few that i will need to learn per you guys suggestions. I am goin to make notes and have in my pocket as to what knot to use when and where-to have as reference. As a new sailor im forgetting things i learned days ago from all the new things im learning. I spend a lot if time reading all the post on here in every forum, need to start jotting it down in a note pad so i dont have to keep looking things up.lol thanks again

Re: What Book of Knots?

What knots are not there? Grog animated has all the knots you'll need as a sailor.
kind regards,

Re: What Book of Knots?

The nice thing about the on-line stuff is it moves the line through the knot like a video, sometimes the books are pretty confusing.. nice to have a book aboard though...

Re: What Book of Knots?

Read through this thread. You will find most sailors really don't use that many different knots. http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...use-82620.html

Chapman's Amazon.com: Knots (Chapman's nautical guides) (9780688094157): Brion Toss, Gae Pilon: Books

Cheap, and under 200 pages. Why pay for knots you'll never use?

Re: What Book of Knots?

Ashley is for decorative ropework more than actually learning functional knots. Grog is awesome. In book form Morrow Guide to Knots is the best IMHO. It has a great selection of knots and is very well laid out and easy to follow. Fairly cheap and easy to find as well. Has a good selection of climbing and fishing knots too.

Amazon.com: The Morrow Guide to Knots: for Sailing, Fishing, Camping, Climbing (9780688012267): Mario Bigon, Guido Regazzoni, Kennie Lyman, Maria Piotrowska: Books
