If it is just a plastic through hull with hose barb no - hardly the proper fitting on a real boat anyway, they're best on small fishing boats. They usually rot in the sun in a few years anyway. You could cut it back to the threaded portion and then adapt it to whatever size needed.

If it is a proper Marelon or bronze threaded through hull - with or without valve - easy to adapt down to whatever size you need.

Re: Water maker waste routing

Holley vent is likely plain stee.

Adapting a bronze thruhull is not so easy due to the straight pipe threads, unless it is bigger barbed, then upstream a reducing adapter for the hose. A regular female NPT fitting will not seal.

Re: Water maker waste routing

I wonder if you could take a 1/2 bronze thruhull and tap the inside to take for instance a 3/8" male NPT fitting?

actually it is chromed brass the Holley vent is for marine gasoline use by design well above the waterline .

A bit of concern about galley wastewater co-mingling and standing in the brine discharge line. Also puts plumbing into another compartment. I may someday want to revive the shower/icebox sump plumbing and need that tee.

I mounted a spout in my galley sink, such as what one would use with a foot pump. Simple with no back flow issues, and I can see the output.

Re: Water maker waste routing

Thanks for all the input.
I chose option 1, deck drain elbow tapped for a hose barb. It was gratifyingly thicker that I was expecting. Sealed with 5200, although I doubt it bonds well to the nylon pipe threads. If I don’t like it I can always cap it and do something different. Looped hose up into coaming to prevent backflow.

Photo rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise for some reason.

Re: Water maker waste routing

We tee'd into the head sink drain which empties just below the waterline. The T is above the waterline. I agree with a previous post that it would be useful/informative to have the thru-hull above the waterline in order to be able to check on the waste flow. We can't do that but I don't want to add another thru-hull so we live with it.

Re: Water maker waste routing

Just saw your last post. I can confirm that 5200 does not bond well to nylon barb fittings. We tried that for putting the WM product into the starboard water tank until I noticed that every time we made water there was water in the bilge. I replaced the nylon fitting with a bronze fitting and hose clamped the line to it. Problem solved.

Re: Water maker waste routing

I used brass thru-bulkhead fittings for the tank feed. Just a couple of bucks and secure.
