Re: Watch out for Patricia

We have tried tranquilizers on our cat. It just pisses him off because he KNOWS he's not fully there.

On that animation above, do you have a link to the color coding?

All things considered.. and where she is.. its not all that iffy... nor foolish.

You might want to look back in the keys news archives for Wilma. A number of people stayed onboard in Boot Key Harbor. One account from the shore saw a boat drag anchor towards a trawle that no one realized anyone was onboard. They saw the diesal fire up, the owner go forward and chop the anchor and head off up Sister Creek where he grounded himself and rode out the rest of Wilma. There were some lessons learned by those who stayed and those who took off up to the Shark and hurricane holes.

So no, I think, in this particular case Zeehag is good to go and not foolish in staying.
YMMV

btdt... just put a lifevest on her, that pissed her off too. But at least I felt more comfortable IF she had it on. I have three now, as of yesterdays' latest rescue... I am not sure I would want to ride out a thunderstorm with the two youngest. Older cat is a world traveler and used to flying on airplanes, sailboats and the trawler now. She just goes to sleep and ignores it all..

Re: Watch out for Patricia

This area is likely to get 30-40 ft surge they are saying now.

This is still a CAT 5.

It going to be dark.

The track has changed a bit south. She is now on the edge of the path.

I'm not sure whats safe or not at this point -- staying in a life boat or hiding ashore.

Flying pillows are lethal objects in that wind.

Main page may lead to it;
Patricia - Satellite Products and Services Division - Office of Satellite and Product Operations

This describes the various image techniques:
Image Enhancement Information - Satellite Products and Services Division - Office of Satellite and Product Operations

The images themselves have a color scale at bottom, but don't see any numeric or other values assigned to the ones I've looked at.

A search on that main page area might turn up numeric/strength value scales.

Zee, I'm going to be selfish, I want to talk to you after the storm passes, so do what you can to survive this sucker, no heroics.

Re: Watch out for Patricia

It looks like the La Manzanilla webcam went down.
The video was already getting pretty choppy.
Wind looked like 30 knots to me.
Waves not anything huge yet, but it already looked like high tide which won't be reached until after 8 PM.

It's back...for now.

Thanks.

I poked around a bit and can't find anything.

Still can't be good to be at or above the top of the scale.
