Often there is resentment for authority figures coming in. Therefore respect for the position of
captain isn't a given.

While sailing routines can be a great tool to give a kid direction, it is a good idea to have an indication that they want direction prior to casting off.
Now if you plan a
dinghy sailing type of follow the lead boat thing it might be fun. Half dozen possibly armed junior thugs on a
small boat?
