Upholstery for saloon

Wife and I are in the process of finalizing the interior options of a Lagoon 400. Lagoon's website here Lagoon catamarans : building, sale and chartering of luxury cruising catamarans list the options for the seat bottoms and backs.

I'm having a tough time choosing. Looks like my only two choices are 1. Fabric (unknown type, durability, comfort) and 2. Leather (Devon whatever that is).

My first priority is durability followed shortly by comfort.

Does anybody have any experience with the upholstery from the Lagoon factory? If so, please share your experience. I will have to finalize my options shortly.

Thanks for your time.

I ended up getting the leather at the dealer's insistence. Looks great and very comfortable. I think it was the right choice. On the 42, there were choices of leather colors.

Upholstery for saloon

We took the leather option in our 450 and 2 yrs later had it reupholstered for cloth. We just found it too uncomfortable to sit on in the tropics as it doesn't breath. Even with aircon on occasionally, to sit for any length of time is just too sticky and uncomfortable. A good cloth/cotton is much more comfy to relax on. Its one of the few Lagoon options we took that we regretted. This is just our experience.

I think we are going to go with the cloth. Dealer says that is is easy to unzip the cloth covers from the cushions and toss them in a washing machine. Won't be able to do that with leather, even though it might look better.

Thanks for the replies.

Marc,

A third alternative would be for you to provide enough ultra suede for them to do it for you. It will be expensive, but it is comfortable, you don't stick to it; it is washable; and it holds up well. I have no connection with it, but would seriously consider it if we were going to have to replace all our leather, some of which is already beginning to wear out.

Another vote for cloth if you aren't going to run the air/con 24/7. Consider a sunbrella type fabric as really more of an indoor/outdoor type of application.

Another thought consider the pattern. If you are going to be using it for hours each day, there will be stains. Solids or stripes don't hide them very well. A "confused" pattern and a little stain will hard to find.

Love me some Ultrasuede!!! It feels so luxurious. I have had two boats reupholstered with it. I doubt black would be a good choice for a cat (with more sun exposure) but everyone loves it.
It feels like velvet, wicks moisture or spills very well.
I have had leather (naugasoft I believe) cushions before. Never again, particularly if in a hot climes.

If these pics are low quality I can send you a link to better ones.
