Today, It Begins.....

It’s been a long time coming, we just boarded the plane for Istanbul then on to Venice to begin another cruising season. However, this time it will be different, in that it will be my choice if and when I return to work. The new plan is to cruise nine months of the year in the Mediterranean and Caribbean.

It’s going to take a few days to slow down.... If you happen to see a boat named “Orinoco” in a beautiful quiet anchorage, please stop by and say hello.

And even more important I bet the food is fresh and great tasting. It'll be a food culture shock when you start eating in the Carib.

Not so much pasta, but the variety of meats and fresh vegetable combinations which are unobtanium in the US. Salted meats and sweet sausages etc. the Italians just know how to cook... it’s nothing like what passes for Italian food in the US restaurants.

I just made a huge meal for the two of us for under $8 total, which was delicious. I could not have purchased the same ingredients in the US
