Re: This Opens Up a Can of Worms

As skipper, you have a duty of care. Failure to perform the duty of care to accepted standards can leave you open to criminal charges. As amateurs, we still may be found liable. And maybe, more so in the case of a spouse.

Once you start thinking "murder", you wonder "cui bono?" (who benefits?). If this particular super model had considerable assets and didn't want to share? who knows? It is the details of their personal lives that would be most revealing, and we're not likely to be able to learn them.

This Opens Up a Can of Worms

The duty of care of you will, really kicks in if your a professional and have accepted any form of renumeration for the voyage.
People like to think they can be slick and call it sharing costs, but that is pretty easy to penetrate, if you accept money, even a share of the cost, be careful.

Now this being his Wife is of course way different.
If I had to guess, the authorities are suspicious and this charge is there just so that they can pursue him.
Of course that’s just my theory based on a news story, and we all know how accurate those are

The rest of the story was she gave him I think it was $20 to help pay for fuel, and that is what got him into serious trouble.
