Re: The Madam and the Hooker

I supervised a refit of the "Hooker" back around 2000 in Florida, while installing a new cherry interior in the "Madam". While removing the 4" rubrail , I found over 100 marlin bill tips between the rail and the hull. Also found, was an 18" marlin bill that had penetrated the starboard quarter of the hull, a 2x4 oak stringer , and after being turned upward by the fiberglass exaust, penetrated the fighting deck. According to Trevor , captain at the time, the marlin had attacked the boat during her first day of fishing, 16 years prior. At the time of the refit, I was told that 77 billfish world records had been set by anglers onboard, including a grand-slam [records in all species of billfish] by the wife of the owner. Never have I seen a more battle scarred hull ! Given her high level of success in her mission to put anglers on to marlin, it is easy to see why.
