Tenerife

Does anyone know the best, most sheltered anchorage in Tenerife, Canaries. Am looking for somewhere to anchor, not marina if it can be helped, for a couple of months while waiting to cross the pond later this year.

Tenerife

but then there's this: Spain and the Canary Islands: Anchoring Restrictions — Noonsite

I would guess that the Los Cristianos/Las Americas part of the island would be the safest and most anchoring-friendly.

Re: Tenerife

I have actually flown out here for a week to check them out. Los Christianos is now out for anchoring as they have set swimming buoys off the beach there is only enough room for the big ferries and entrance to the small marine at the boatshed. I think I will have to bite the bullet and take a Marina berth. There is a real nice one up at Los Gigantes a bit further up the coast. I don't want to go to Santa Cruz De Tenerife with the ARC there, much prefer somewhere smaller and intimate.
Thanks for the links Snort, very useful.

Re: Tenerife

You're welcome. I lived on Tenerife for years. Los Gigantes would be my choice too.
As an aside, if you've never been to Madeira and Porto Santo, I highly recommend those islands. They're a bit north of the Canaries, but brilliant places to spend some time.
