Still Sitting on the Hard

Well our boat made it safely to Havre de Grace but when theynlifted her off the truck there was an accident and the pop shaft was bent so they were not able to put her in the water. So instead of being underway Wednesday we probably will be just getting her in the water. The marina has been great and is repairing the shaft for us, but it is a big job since they had to take the rudder off to remove them prop.

The weather has been beautiful and I wish we could be taking advantage of it with a shakedown trip and get underway but we will probably not start our journey through the Chesapeake and down the ICW till the weekend.

At least the boat being on the hard gave us a chance to paint and polish her. Seems like every time we turn around though there is something else we should do. The marina suggested having a company come and clean the diesel tanks but they can't do it this week and to come here from Annapolis they want $175 so don't think we can have that done before we head off. We are just going to get going and if the engine fuel keeps clogging the filters we will stop in Annapolis and have it done at least save the travel fee. Or does anyone have any other ideas of how to maybe clean the tanks since they have been sitting for 2 years, they had stabilizer in it but probably has sat too long for it to be effective.

So many boats have left the marina already I hope we are not leaving too late.

can you pump it thru a series of filters into a clean container and then clean your tank?? is gonna save you at least 300 dollars, unless the price has risen since i last had polishing done .....and carry a mess of new primary filters. add new diesel and biocide to the old and have a good trip, should be ok after all that--but still may act up in a heavy sea-- the lines may still have stuff in them, hence the additional filters.....build a polishing system into your boat by adding pump and filters-- a friend did with 7 filters of differing sizes and 2 pumps. worked great and he could "fold it up and put it away" when didnt need to use it....(his words---i think the reality was he bypassed it for most of the time.....)
