Still In Quandary-27 or 30?

If you had your choice, ie, put the cost issue to one side, what would you prefer to sail single handed on the Great Lakes: a C and C 27 or a Beneteau First 30

And if so, why?

The difference between a 27 foot boat and a 30 foot boat will even out after about the first dozen trips in and out of the slip. That is assuming they both have inboard motors. Sailing will be very little difference, but the cost and maintenance will be different. If as you say , money isnt the issue, then go with the larger boat. It will be roomier and more comfortable. If cost was an issue, I would say to go with the smaller boat.____Pay your dime and take your chances!______Grant.

Depends a lot on condition and auxiliary power. If they were in equally good condition and they both had about the same aux. power, i. e. both outboard or both inboard then I'd say go for the larger boat. Go aboard each and see how you fit.

Handling characteristics will be nearly the same.

kind regards,
