St. Pete to Galveston - Late February

Bringing a 41 Kings Legend (53 feet at the mast, 6 foot draft) from St. Pete to Glaveston next month. Leaving around the 16th or 17th of February. As usual I'm tapped to plan the route. Looking for ideas or suggestions on places to stop/visit/eat/drink etc....
We'll be going outside a day or two at a time then pulling in for a night to rest. Got 4 crew all guys... (the wives are staying on land this time)
Also looking for a good, reputable yard in Glaveston/Kemah area to haul the boat at the end. Needs a bottom job and add new thru hull, then decommissioned before she's moved inland.
All your help and info is greatly appreciated.

Re: St. Pete to Galveston.... late February

South Texas Yacht center, has done my boat before, they generally do good work, but not the cheapest.

The others in the area have good days, and bad days

I don't have any good stopping points until you get to Texas, ...sorry.

Just watch for cold fronts, although coast hopping you should be able to get to a protected bay in time.

Re: St. Pete to Galveston.... late February

thanks for the boat yard ref... will check em out...

Got caught in a couple of those cold fronts on a crossing a year ago last November. from Key West to Galveston... whoa... what a ride! One good day the whole trip. Main reason we aren't going straight across this time. We saw winds to 45 knots and the seas... whoa.... it was quite a trip...
