Hey, there, Boatie,

What about Brexit that's happened while you were peacefully sailing?!

Welcome back to your corner of the world.

65 degrees. No wind to speak of. Looks like the boatman may be motoring into Horta.

Nice temp for it. Much cooler than here.

pirate Re: St Martin to E Spain

Hey Folks.... am now in cloudy, damp Horta.. though the first night was great.
Peters Bar had laid on some live music for me so was toe tapping till the wee small hours... my head hurt this morning...
What a weird crossing.. set off with a nice SE breeze 10-15kts that lasted 3.5 days then a couple of days motoring NE before picking up some more SE wind.
Was going great then hit winds from the East so broad reached them N looking for W'lies.. no joy..
Gave up the hunt at 40.25N.. 450nm Wsw of Flores.. owner had texted me on his Yellow Brick to say I'd have to go to 42-45N to get favourable winds so I'm like..
"Bugga that for a game of soldiers... start ignition sequence.. Engine On..."
Way things were going I'd end up in Cork..
Anyway.. got just 20nm SW of Flores when a nice breeze came out of the N.. for 4hrs then it went E again..
20 days of East winds... seriously weird.. usually once over the Stream one picks up S'lies which carry you up to the West winds around 35N..
Turned a potential 14 day trip into 20 days... MERDE.....
Another thing which made it harder is its a bilge keel Gentlemans Motorsailer... and we all know Gentlemen Don't go to weather...
So.. a few things to sort out.. take down the genny as the top roller snapped and the sail started falling down.. lucky its a double headsail set up so carrying on with the 100% jib and the owner can get it fixed in Almerimar.
Be here for a couple 3 more days then on to Portimao and the Med.

YAAAAAAYYYYYYY..... The English showed some brains and voted OUT..
Scotland wants to leave the UK.. figure they'll get a better handout from the EU.. would not mind but they already get a better deal on all fronts than us English.. still.. good riddance to them.. 3 years of freebies and then the Troika steps in... Portugal all over again..
Lata folks... Hugz to all.

Re: St Martin to E Spain

Yep. Well done.

A BIG ONE started building up as you sailed on. At a point it was like nearly 1040mb and bang on between you and Horta. Arghhh ;-) Nice summer weather just when you do not want it ;-)

BTW My clients will have a late departure from the West Indies in about a week. Gonna be an interesting job. I just hope not too interesting.

Rest well. Do not miss the local goodies!

Cheers,
b.

Yup that it would have been.. curious how you'd have enjoyed my favourite rib shack in Sandy Ground... better food than the Yacht Club..

From the winds I'm seeing in Sailflow, he may be doing hull speed on a handkerchief.
