Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

Living aboard at dock in Olympia WA about 15 yrs ago, winter, fire in the woodstove and smoke from the chimney, lights and music below. I feel somebody walking around on deck and slide open the hatch. Some woman is taking pictures of my boat. There were always knock-knocks. Anchoring out is the answer. Love the Watchtower idea, but you'd be inundated with rabid Bachman/Perry followers. Maybe just a sign with a handgun picture, smoking? Or one just saying Go Away. This has been a funny thread.

A lot of interest in men in thongs on this thread. I'll have to get one. I wonder what color will best highlight my fat white under belly?

That is what the 'L' flag represents....

Quarantine... Originally used to insure that the contagious diseases did not spread to shore..

Of course, seeing this flag on the high seas implies a directive to stop immediately.

Not logically (in my mind at least... ), the 'Q' flag
is a request to the port to clear the vessel (to be granted free pratique), as you DO NOT NEED quarantine..

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

You could use

T (Tango)
"Keep clear of me; I am engaged in pair trawling."
At the dock, might give them something to think about. (Is that what they call it now?)

Unfortunately, Flags of any discription or meaning are useless since the offenders generally don't know the meaning anyway.

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

I don't think the kayakers know what any flag means. How about just a sign saying "Warning, this ship is infected with rats and the Bubonic Plague" with a picture of a rat jumping from the anchor chain. Perhaps you could put "Dangerous to 50 feet of hull" in there somewhere.
That aught to keep all the the bravest of Coasties away.
A big red Biohazard sign always gets my attention.

Wow. What's with all the anti-kayaker rhetoric?

Next time you see one of us, remind yourself that a guy in a kayak is one less person on a jet ski.

(BTW, I can roll my kayak. Can you do any comparable tricks on your sailboat?)

Remember that sailors do own kayaks too. Some people find them more attractive then an inflatable pushed by an engine. Why use expensive gas when your muscles can do the work just as well?

Do you think sailboats can have somekind of alarm system? You touch my boat and some alarm or the sound of growling dogs or lions starts coming out your speakers.
