I sail summers in NZ and winters in
Queensland.
One thing I have noticed is that in Qld at around 4pm in most
anchorages you will see a few tenders on the beach.
If you go ashore you will find the 5oclock bar in full social swing with all welcome.
Auckland thru to Bay of islands is my cruising area and this social activity just doesn’t seem to happen.
Some Kiwi yacht races do end up with a prize giving on the beach and a few beers.
Maybe Queenslanders like a drink more than Kiwis.
As a Kiwi sailor that likes to socialise Am I missing something.
