SMS/Text Messaging tool

Just stumbled across a review of this new gadget.

It supports sending text messages through self contained SAT link from your computer or phone.

At $30 a month, this seems like a good alternative when Wifi support (or cel service is not available.

Kind of meh.

So for $400 + $30/month you can have something that texts.

For $1000 (or half that used) + $50/month you can have the same amount of texts plus a phone that can do data and voice.

Isatphone is .33 cents a text. For $30 bucks, you can send 75 messages... Best of all, this is a prepaid card that you use when you want and no monthly contract. I can download weather, send emails, and make calls all with a phone I purchased for $450. These other products that aren't satellite phones just don't make sense to me.

EDIT: Sorry, just looked and the isatphone text pricing has doubled to .70 a text for outgoing. Incoming are still free, but not as good as it was before. Not sure when they changed that on me.
