Sludge in waste line

Hi CF family,

While using the macerator to pump waste overboard, I discovered a small but smelly continual leak!

Yup - had to replace the macerator. Anyway, the hoses are in good shape, but seem to have a bit of sludge on the inside walls.

Here's the question - is there a chemical solution that will remove the sludge from the hoses or do I need to send a snake through them?

Your helpful comments are appreciated especially if you've had and solved this problem.

Re: Sludge in waste line

There are a couple kinds of sludge, mineral scale, (urine) and then of course, ****. Muriatic acid takes care of the scale. Caustic soda (lye) would take care of the other.

Sounds like both treatments should be done. Any particular order?
