If it's boat gear intended for a cruising sailboat, I would suggest you think about placing ads on the BB's of cruising associations. The gear will need to be expensive enough that a fair price to you plus large shipping costs (from Tasmania?) will still produce a decent buy for someone in N America or Europe, the two main regions with yachting/sailing populations

Examples of these organizations might be:
1. SSCA - http://ssca.org/sscabb/index.php
2. Ocean Cruising Club - http://www.oceancruisingclub.org/com...owcat/catid,5/
3. Cruising Assn - based in London; you can both ask the office to post physically and seek to post on their BB at http://www.cruising.org.uk/ (no one pays more for boat gear, it seems, than the Brit sailor!)
4. Cruising Club of America - http://www.cruisingclub.org/

There are others (e.g. isn't there a Blue Water Cruising Assn. based in W Canada?) you could seek out.

I would imagine this woudn't be the most likely approach for you. The larger, well-known consignment shops in the USA (Sailorman in FL, Minney's in CA and Bacon's in MD) would be quite suitable for this purpose but I don't think the financial equation would work for you, assuming you do ship from down under.

I have spent a lot of time on both Ebay and Trademe. I have had several deals og wrong on Ebay and have decided it just isn't worth the hassle anymore. I have had no support from the Ebay people as a buyer.
Trademe on the other hand, is completly reverse. I have never had a bad deal. And if a p[roblem does ever occur, the support from Trademe staff is excellent, for both Seller AND buyer.

Oh and if you or anyone ever has a problem with a seller not wanting to freight overseas, use me as a delivery address and I can send it on for you.

Try searching on Yacht Grot in Fremantle, Western Australia. They have a large shop full of second hand kit - used to be run by Trevor - and I'm sure if you list what you need they will repond by email or fax.
