I have Simpson
Davits on my Moody. I think they were fitted in 2008.
Until now they have worked flawlessly, but now the starboard up mechanism has developed a fault that on the up cycle the
motor clicks but does not
lift, and then suddenly lifts. Down is never an issue.
I am
remote cruising off Panamá, and therefore I am relying on my own experienced skills.
I have checked the
wiring and the conditions and tightness are good, without
corrosion.
I am a bit puzzled by the ‘up’ being slow to start, when the down and all the port functions are great.
Can someone suggest a diagnostic or place to search for issues given the symptoms.
The
battery is good and it does not matter if I am
engine on (charging) or not. The clicking and then suddenly bursting into life has me flummoxed given that all is well elsewhere and the starboard “up” works on occasions.
Without situating the
advice could a
motor brush
work for one direction and intermittently in another?
Please support me with technical
advice and suggestions and not scrapping or fitting hand
winch suggestions!
