Shetland To Norway In A 19 Footer. Video.
You may need 60'. I may need 30'. But they only really needed 19' to have a ball.
19 feet – scotland to norway « Keep Turning Left
What a great trip.

Gosh, at first I thought Dylan had gotten lost and ended up in Norway. But I believe the story involves someone else. (I cannot see the video)

Re: Shetland To Norway In A 19 Footer. Video.
Great video, Coops ,however, the New Age, Reggae, Techno babble background music(?) was a distraction for me. I guess the Vikings never really disappeared. They're still alive in Northern Europe! But, Coops, I do have a serious question: how did this couple make this voyage without a 40 foot "offshore" cruiser, no AIS, no refrigeration, no Satellite telephone, no watermaker, no microwave, no SSB, no blender, no Rocna anchor, no radar, no chartplotter, no liferaft, no inboard engine, and using their sails to make the journey? This must be a staged video for it truly can't be true. Can you or someone else please explain? Good luck and good sailing.

Re: Shetland To Norway In A 19 Footer. Video.
I turned the music off. I was waiting for somebody to say that voyages like that should not be allowed. Totally demeans the description of blue water boat when you can do it in something like that.
Could they have been more comfortable in something bigger? Yes of course. Could they have had more fun? I seriously doubt it looking at them enjoy it. Bravo I say.

How it should be. Provision, check route, check boat, get baby sitter and go.

Never heard of a Flicka 20? I had one docked down from me in the marina in St. Petersburg. Small, but as bluewater as it gets.

I enjoyed the video.
Shows that adventure is in the mind and spirit of the people and not in the gear or boat.
It looks like they know how to enjoy life, sailing, and their mate.

I longed for one back in the eighties. But few and far between, like none, over here. Would still like a Dana 24 now.

Re: Shetland To Norway In A 19 Footer. Video.
I was trying to deal on a Nebe Cape 28 built in South Africa, and when it started to get serious (as in I was about to go to take a look at it), communication stopped. I never know if it got sold or not. Interesting boats, and I think less than 30 actually built.

Magnificent video, thanks Coops.
Didn't mind the music, liked the inclusion of some good ole Brittish ska (Rudy).
