Re: Sheets?

On the advise of another cruiser we but a heating mattress pad underneath the mattress. We turn it on fir an hour every morning in hot weather and for 5 hours in cold weather. No more moisture in the mattress or bedding.

Re: Sheets?

Solar vent. A marinco 4” model moves 1000 cu ft/hour. Mine had been running on exhaust for 6 years without a hiccough. When the battery finally gave up in January, it wasn’t long before the 30’ sloop got that “musty” smell inside. Replaced it earlier this week, and expect to be greeted by a fresh-smelling boat when I return to the marina next week. If your vessel is much larger than 30’, consider using two, at opposite ends of the boat - one for intake, one for exhaust.

Re: Sheets?

We purchased Bamboo sheets for our boat. They look and feel like silk, are naturally thermo-regulating and bacteria and mould resistant. One of the best additions to our boat so far. https://pasitheasleep.com

Re: Sheets?

At anchor I use an 120 volt electric blanket, it works very well to turn on 30 min before bed.

I have a 12 volt electric blanket that I used in a VW camper ages ago it draws 180 watts. I never tried it on the boat but it should work there too. If you have the power to run it I would do that.

Re: Sheets?

I forgot to mention that I usually sleep using a synthetic fleece blanket. Polar fleece, micro fleece, whatever you want to call it. These feel dry to me on the dampest days. So if the sheet is feeling icky I'll sometimes taco in the blanket. Rained all last night so the sheet feels a little damp but the blanket feels fine.

I say sheet because I only put the one down. It means I have twice as many bed coverings before laundry is required.
