Serial number location Volvo MD30A...please help!

Hi all.

I own a 1984 HR-42 that's powered with a Volvo MD30A with 4100 hrs on it. It came with an "owners manual and workshop manual." I am looking for a more comprehensive shop manual (detailed tear down reassembly part numbers).

Do they exist? The local Volvo dealer has asked for the serial number off the engine and I can not find it anywhere. I've spent days looking everywhere on the engine. There is a metal plate with one line on it with MD30A and "NO 2035" but that doesn't help me.

Any help from anyone would be appreciated. I can't do anymore boat yoga!

Look up your engine serial number ~ Volvo Penta
Refer to your operators manual to find the location of your serial number.

Thanks very much Gord for your help. I have visited that page already and still had no success. I will continue to try to find the serial number stamped on the engine.

I guess at the very least a comprehensive parts manual would be the least I would want and I can figure out the disassembly myself.

At least I hope I can do so as I'm starting to doubt myself as I can't even find the serial number...haha.

Any other ideas, feel free to shoot them my way if you wish.
