Re: Selling Ethics and Practice

The idea that I would not sell my boat to someone I didn't deem capable of handling it seems ridiculous.

If I had that level of misplaced concern over the welfare of some stranger and refused to sell to them, wouldn't I then have to follow them around and make sure they didn't make a similarly foolish purchase from some other seller?

It's my job to sell my boat...not fix the world.

Just hope the Judge in the case isn't a boat owner.

Re: Selling Ethics and Practice

When I was looking for a car for my newly minted driver one seller pointed out the car he was offering was a bit amped up and probably not suitable for the inexperienced. We agreed and parted ways. He would have sold it to me but did want to point out exactly what the car was.

What part of that don't you understand? Let me know, I'll help you understand. Maybe you can figure it out on your own or ask someone you know.

And what part of that don't you understand, lol... after all, it is a forum where ideas and views can be exchanged, nicht wahr?

Wink Re: Selling Ethics and Practice

Wow.. a moral dilemma there are two possible tacks ;-) on this 1) take the money and run... the second, take them home.. fix them dinner, while sitting around the fire enjoying a brandy, discuss the relative merits of boat ownership, the pitfalls of hasty decisions and that far away look in his eyes.. Discuss the voyages you have enjoyed, the terror of a squall and whether the barnacles are included in the selling price. Sailboat shoppers are in an altered state of consciousness.. smile... wish them well.
